In the wedding world there are small details that serve a dual purpose; one being the bustle. A bustle is a technique added to your gown in the alteration process. The function of a bustle is to pull a train of a gown up to match the hem. This allows for more movement as well as adding a different beautiful view of the gown. Our seamstresses construct bustles from buttons and ribbons or color coordinating ribbons.
There are a variety of bustles, the two most common being the Traditional bustle and the French bustle. The Traditional bustle is when the train is attached to the outside of the skirt. It displays the details of the train nicely without taking anything away from the dress. There are a series of clear buttons added to the skirt and small blending ribbon added to the train. Connect the two and voil`a! With the French bustle the train is pulled up under the skirt and attached with color coded ribbons. (I.e tie blue to blue, pink to pink). The result is a nicely added thrill to the back of your gown.
When you have your appointment with your seamstress she will show you your options and you can decide what type of bustle your heart desires. It may seem like just another decision to make, but remember this is the key to helping you dance the night away!”
